  • Key player in arranging all legal issues in the first merger of two joint venture companies in Vietnam when there was no legal framework for the combination of foreign-invested enterprises in Vietnam. With support from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, this pioneer case was successfully completed, thus setting the precedent which eventually amended the laws on foreign investment in Vietnam.
  • Active in various buyout arrangements between foreign and Vietnamese parties in share transfers and brand acquisitions.
  • Organized a series of anti-counterfeit campaigns on a nationwide basis which have helped to eliminate and control the spread of counterfeit products of multinational consumer product companies in Vietnam.
  • Organized the first co-operation scheme between the local authorities and Unilever Vietnam in anti-counterfeiting campaign that strengthened the enforcement of intellectual property laws in Vietnam. This scheme involved six different high-level governmental authorities participating in a series of seminars and training courses for officials in the Northern Provinces on enforcing intellectual properties in Vietnam. Officials of the authorities were then invited to join a delegation visiting Europe to meet and discuss with their counterparts in UK and Holland.

Mr. Phung is the author of a number of articles, researches and essays about economics and legal issues in Vietnam which have been published in different newspapers and magazines in Vietnam and the United States.

With over 20 years of experiences in Vietnam’s legal system, Mr. Duong and the team advise on commercial, corporate, contract and labor contentious matters, among other matters. He and the team represent clients before arbitrations, courts and government authorities.

  • Key player in arranging all legal issues in the first merger of two joint venture companies in Vietnam when there was no legal framework for the combination of foreign-invested enterprises in Vietnam. With support from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, this pioneer case was successfully completed, thus setting the precedent which eventually amended the laws on foreign investment in Vietnam.
  • Active in various buyout arrangements between foreign and Vietnamese parties in share transfers and brand acquisitions.
  • Organized a series of anti-counterfeit campaigns on a nationwide basis which have helped to eliminate and control the spread of counterfeit products of multinational consumer product companies in Vietnam.
  • Organized the first co-operation scheme between the local authorities and Unilever Vietnam in anti-counterfeiting campaign that strengthened the enforcement of intellectual property laws in Vietnam. This scheme involved six different high-level governmental authorities participating in a series of seminars and training courses for officials in the Northern Provinces on enforcing intellectual properties in Vietnam. Officials of the authorities were then invited to join a delegation visiting Europe to meet and discuss with their counterparts in UK and Holland.

Mr. Phung is the author of a number of articles, researches and essays about economics and legal issues in Vietnam which have been published in different newspapers and magazines in Vietnam and the United States.

With over 20 years of experiences in Vietnam’s legal system, Mr. Duong and the team advise on commercial, corporate, contract and labor contentious matters, among other matters. He and the team represent clients before arbitrations, courts and government authorities.

Before joining VCI – Legal, Mr. Duong was an Of Counsel of Bizlink Lawyers & Consultants, after working for Techcombank, a leading commercial bank in Vietnam as VP – Legal Counsel for the Board of Management.

Previously, he was an Associate/Attorney-at-Law with Baker & McKenzie; a leading global law firm for over three years and Senior Associate of VILAF, a leading local law firm for a short time after had served over ten years as a Judge in the Courts in Hanoi City.

Mr. Duong has been a visiting lecturer of Vietnam Judicial Academy, giving lectures for judges’ and lawyers’ training courses for several years as well as taking part in professional training courses and seminars in Vietnam and overseas countries.
