VCI Legal is pleased to announce that our Partner and Head of the Banking & Capital Markets team, Kent Wong, was elected as Chairman of the EuroCham Legal Sector Committee (“LSC”) on 26 August 2021. He succeeds Antoine Logeay, who chaired the LSC over the course of August 2017 – July 2021.

The LSC primarily focuses on (a) Vietnam’s service sector market access commitments in the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement; (b) WTO service sector market access commitments; and (c) Other investment-related issues of vital importance to European business in Vietnam.

To fulfil its mission, the LSC works together with the Government of Vietnam and its agencies, as well as Vietnamese and European companies and other stakeholders. The LSC takes into account the interdependence of the issues raised by its members and the sector.

Prior to being elected, Kent served for more than 3 years as Vice-Chairman and led the LSC’s Real Estate Working Group in drafting the Real Estate chapter in EuroCham’s annually published WhiteBook during 2017-2021. He has also previously served on the Board of Directors of The Kiwi Chamber (New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Korea) from 2009-2011 and is the Legal Advisor to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (ICCV).

By participating as a EuroCham member in the LSC, VCI Legal has maintained the firm’s commitment to contributing to the development of Vietnam’s legal framework. As newly elected Chairman, it is encouraging for Kent to continue contributing to the LSC and its mission of “creating a legal level playing field for European businesses in Vietnam”.
