On September 5, 2023, Mr. Kent Wong, Chairman of EuroCham’s Legal Sector Committee, Partner and Head of Banking and Capital Markets at VCI Legal, appeared on VTV4’s “Vietnamese enterprises on foreign stock exchange” program.  

The interview touched upon VinFast’s historic Nasdaq listing in the U.S. in August 2023 and the broader implications for Vietnamese businesses. According to Mr. Wong at 18:38, one of the actions that the Securities Commission can take is to develop, review and revise the current Law on Securities and its guiding legislation and legal framework. This reform is seen as a crucial step in creating a healthier, more buoyant, transparent, and sustainable stock exchange.  

Mr. Wong highlighted that a reformed regulatory framework would instill confidence in foreign exchanges to collaborate with the Vietnam Stock Exchange (VNX). This, in turn, would bolster the development of corporation networks involving the VNX.
